A Change In Plans
August 30, 2022
It seems the cross-country #vanlife sojourn of 2022 was not meant to be. The van builder could not complete the van conversion in time and consequently the trip has been canceled for this year. Sam has found another van builder in Sarasota but that guy is booked until January so that is the earliest that the van could be made ready for the trip.
We are making the best of a tough situation, however. This past weekend, we drove down to Miami (my first visit ever) and we explored the Miami/Miami Beach area. We visited the completely awesome Wynwood Walls gallery in Miami and we were blown away by the murals and pop art. On Saturday, we went scuba diving but the current was super strong and I was carried away from the boat. A disturbing number of dinner-plate-sized jellyfish surrounded me as I attempted to swim back. I had to fend the stinging critters off with a Go Pro on a selfie stick! Anyway, the dive group was a fun bunch so we had a pretty good time, anyway. After the dive, we found the most incredible vegan restaurant I’ve ever dined at, Full Bloom Vegan in Miami. We shared the Summer Salad, the Black Curry and the Cuban Bowl. All were delicious and amazing. Highly recommended if you are seeking vegan food in Miami!
On Sunday, we were treated to a tropical downpour which we observed while having breakfast outdoors on the sidewalk. On our way home, we stopped by Myakka River State Park and had the privilege of watching some alligators in their wild habitat.
